Our Original Speed Hook — The Final Finish

In an earlier development post, we shared the story behind our original speed hook for Product No. 1.

After more than a year of development and repeated prototyping, we had arrived at a shape that reflected the small, understated hardware found on early American boots.

The next challenge was the finish.

We wanted a deep, glossy black appearance, similar to the finish seen on some vintage boot hardware. To achieve this, we explored several coating options over a black nickel-plated brass base.

After testing different finishes, we have now completed the black coating and fitted the hooks to our prototype boots.

The result is a small detail, but one that we believe makes a meaningful difference to the overall appearance of the boot.

Development of Product No. 1 continues.
