PRODUCT NO. 1 — PROTOTYPE
5th Prototype represents the current stage of Product No. 1, developed through repeated fitting, measurement, and comparison with historical references.
By 5th Prototype, the fundamental proportions of Product No. 1 had largely taken shape. The remaining work focuses on refining smaller details before the final prototype.
Last and Construction Studies
Product No. 1 was developed through the comparison and measurement of multiple historical wooden lasts, including Munson-influenced examples in different sizes. These studies helped identify the most suitable foundation for reconstructing an early American boot silhouette.
X-ray analysis was also used to study the internal construction of reference boots, including the riveted shank area, fastening layout, and heel structure. These findings informed the development of the prototype.
5th Prototype: A three-quarter view showing the relationship between the Munson-influenced toe, long facings, and the overall proportions of the boot.
5th Prototype: Viewed from the front, the broad, rounded forefoot reflects the proportions of the Munson-influenced last developed for Product No.1.
5th Prototype: A three-quarter view showing the relationship between the Munson-influenced toe, long facings, and the overall proportions of the boot.
5th Prototype: The outside profile reveals the balance between the rounded toe, low waist, heel, and the height of the upper.
5th Prototype: The inside profile shows the pronounced curve through the waist and the anatomical character inherited from the vintage last.
Prototype No.4 (top) and No.5 (bottom). The fifth prototype refines the overall proportions, with particular attention to the waist, heel, and balance of the upper.
